Ice Show Volunteer Information

The East York Skating Club’s 76th Annual Ice Show, Welcome To The Circus, is a true community production. Each year, our skaters shine on the ice thanks to the incredible support of our families and volunteers. The success of the Ice Show depends on many helping hands, and we are grateful for every person who contributes their time, energy, and enthusiasm.

As part of the Ice Show commitment, each family is required to volunteer for two shifts during the dress rehearsal and the three performances. These details will be included in the registration process.

In addition to these required shifts, we are currently seeking volunteers for three important areas as we begin planning:

1. Registration Table Volunteers

Help us welcome families, answer questions, and build excitement about the Ice Show. Volunteers will sit at the booth in the arena lobby, and full instructions will be provided.
If you would like to sign up for a shift during your skater’s session or another time, please use this form:

2. Ice Show Committee Volunteers

We are looking for additional committee members to support planning and coordination. The committee meets virtually once a month from now until the end of April. Committee members also volunteer at two rehearsals and all three shows.
If you are interested or have questions, please contact Sean at sean.s.lamb@gmail.com.

3. Costume Alterations Lead

We are seeking one or two individuals who can attend Picture Day and Dress Rehearsal to assist with small costume fixes. This role counts as your two required volunteer shifts for rehearsal and the three performances.
For more information or to express interest, please email Sean at sean.s.lamb@gmail.com.

Thank you to all our volunteers for helping make the Ice Show an exciting and memorable experience for our skaters. Your support keeps this tradition strong and brings Welcome To The Circus to life.

Ice Show Volunteer Responsibilities (During Show Week)

The Ice Show would not be possible without the support of our parent volunteers. Each family is required to volunteer for two shifts during Dress Rehearsal and the three Ice Show performances. Volunteers help ensure that the show runs safely, smoothly, and on schedule, and their assistance allows coaches to focus on the skaters and the production itself.

Volunteers may be assigned to any of the following roles:

Dressing Room Assistants

• Supervise and support skaters in designated dressing rooms
• Help skaters stay organized, dressed, and ready on time
• Escort groups to and from the ice entrance when called
• Maintain a calm, safe backstage environment

Ice Captain / Runner

• Assist coaches and stage managers with communication
• Help ensure groups are lined up and ready for their cues
• Relay messages between dressing rooms and rink-side staff

Front-of-House Volunteers

• Greet families and guests
• Assist with ticket or program sales
• Support ushers, security, and general audience flow

Set-Up and Take-Down Crew

• Help prepare the arena for Dress Rehearsal and show day
• Assist with props, decorations, and event materials
• Help restore the rink and lobby areas after the final performance

All volunteers will receive clear instructions and guidance for their roles. No prior experience is required — just a willingness to help and support our skaters. We appreciate every volunteer who gives their time to make the Ice Show a memorable and successful event for our community.
