StarSkate Dance Coach

 

The East York Skating Club (EYSC) is a member-managed, not-for-profit skating club that has proudly served the East York community for over 80 years. Our mission is to foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where skaters of all ages can develop strong skating skills while building confidence and a lifelong love of the sport.

Many of our coaches and volunteers began their own skating journeys at EYSC, reflecting the strong sense of community and tradition that continues to define our club today.

Position Summary

The East York Skating Club is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and team-oriented StarSkate Dance Coach to join our coaching staff for the 2026–2027 season.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the coaching team to provide high-quality Ice Dance instruction through both group and private lessons. This role focuses on supporting skaters throughout the STAR 1–Gold pathway and the Legacy Dance structure while fostering a positive, development-focused training environment.

About You

You are passionate about Ice Dance and enjoy working collaboratively within a coaching team. You are committed to creating a positive, supportive learning environment while helping skaters of all ages develop their skills and confidence on the ice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach group and private Ice Dance sessions from STAR 1 through STAR Gold.
  • Teach and prepare skaters for Dance tests through Diamond level.
  • Prepare and evaluate skaters for STAR Dance assessments to Gold standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with the coaching team to support club programming.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging training environment.
  • Communicate clearly with skaters, families, and club leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Skate Canada-certified coach (or actively completing requirements).
  • Demonstrated Ice Dance coaching experience through STAR Gold and Legacy Diamond.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Comfortable coaching skaters of all ages and levels.
  • Available to coach at least two days per week during the 2026–2027 season.
